Navratri @ Gloscon

Its Festival time here in India and the whole country is in the mood of joy and happiness. Usually August onwards is festival time in India that starts with Rakshabandhan followed by Ganesh Chaturthi (this a 9 day event concludes with the emersion of the idol of the Elephant god, Ganesha in waters), Navratri is again a 9 day festival during these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Shakti/Devi i.e. female divinity are worshipped. It is also celebrated as Durga Puja in West Bengal, a famous state that lies in the East Region of India.

Since most of the staff here is in their early 20's, as the day comes to an end, the planning to go find out a local "Garba" venue  (Garba - is the local form of dance practiced in the state of Gujarat) starts and reaches a crescendo at around 6 pm (yeah... thats the time when we get an go off to home).

Although the Garba's start as early as 7pm, we usually move in at around 9 - 9.30 pm and stay back till 12-1 am. It is quite fun seeing that the whole city is out on the streets or at the different garba venues. Because of the latest terrorists attacks there has been a dull Navratri this year, but still the great spirit of gujrat never dies, and we still not easily get passes (offcourse free!!!).

Would try to post some pics of Gloscon's team at any of the local 'Garba' Venue and see if you like it!!!

Cheers!!!
